Regional Cooperation

Partnerships with these groups are essential as part of the regional delivery model.

Educational institutions have a role to play in the implementation of the Strategy through their research capacity, and NGOs who are engaged in NRM can provide a link to the community through their activities and thus augment the implementation of the Strategy through the Investment Plan.

Partnerships

Industry

Partnerships with industry groups have been pursued with a view to securing
either financial or in kind support for resulting programs that are of particular
importance to them.

The Gondwana Link partnership and the partnership between Greening Australia and Shell are examples of how successful these agreements can be.

Partnerships such as these, as well as developing partnerships that link the three spheres of government with industry and the local community, enable all parties to work towards a shared NRM vision.

Using the Strategy as a guide, the Investment Plan outlines how strategic and effective management of natural resources can be achieved. Industry Groups already expressing an interest in being further involved include the Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) and the Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) for Plant-Based Management of Dryland Salinity.

Other stakeholders in NRM include educational institutions (eg University of
Western Australia (UWA), the Centre of Excellence in NRM (CENRM) and Edith Cowan University (ECU) and NGOs (e.g. Greening Australia WA (GAWA) and Green Skills).
