Through community representatives, the South Coast NRM Council ensures regional planning and management takes account of the needs and circumstances of distinct geographical areas within the Region.

There is a close working relationship between community and government agencies in South Coast NRM Inc.

Of note is the highest level of input from government agencies via their regional managers and involvement and commitment of community stakeholder groups over a long period.

South Coast NRM Inc. relies heavily on its other key partners – the six South Coast sub-regional NRM groups, LCDCs, farmers, tertiary institutions, environmental groups, local government authorities, industry groups, non-government organisations, coastal and marine groups and Indigenous organisations.

Partnerships

South Coast NRM Inc. works in partnership with community groups, industry, State, Australian and local governments, tertiary institutions and non government organisations to achieve the set outcomes.

Ongoing engagement and involvement is a key factor in the roll out of the Region’s NRM investment. Decisions on where to invest are made collectively and are guided by science and knowledge.

Our community has a long history of involvement in caring for our assets, and a strong network of community groups and individuals working to protect, restore, sustainably use and better understand natural resources.

More than 160 people and many hours of voluntary work have contributed to these documents, which have involved extensive consultation and research and have been a long time in the making. They meet stringent guidelines imposed by the State and Australian Governments and provide:
