The South Coast Region boasts

- an impressive track record of innovation in land, water and coastal management
- support for new industries that provide ecological and economic outcomes
- growing recognition of the role of Noongar people in sustainable land management

Achieving long-term change for regional sustainability requires an holistic approach that includes investment in people, regional communities and structures as well as onground responses.
It is essential that our community and stakeholders understand and actively participate in the development of programs, policy and legislation to help influence the shape and essence of our landscapes.
It is the elements of awareness, skills, knowledge, motivation, commitment and confidence that allows a community to implement the cultural and behavioural change necessary for sustainable NRM.
We continue to:
- support the establishment of long term employment contracts for Natural Resource Management Officers
- provide ongoing support to the Government Officers Technical Advisory Group
- investigate options for training and developing our community’s knowledge and expertise
- provide administrative advice and support to subregional groups
- develop the cross-cultural awareness of our staff and community representatives.
