South Coast Natural Resource Management Inc. is the regional group for Natural Resource Management (NRM) on the South Coast of Western Australia.

As one of 56 groups from around Australia, we are committed to the sustainable long-term management of our natural environment that will have positive social and economic outcomes.

The group co-ordinates and administers funding that has been allocated from the Australian Government and the Government of Western Australia, for NRM activity through the joint National Action Plan for Salinity and Water Quality (NAP) program and the Natural Heritage Trust (NHT).

Our role

Our role is to prioritise our region’s assets (the things we value) that need protection, rehabilitation or conservation/preservation.  With the help of the community, government agencies, local government, organisations and industry, we have developed a framework for managing the future of these assets and our key natural resources.

South Coast NRM Inc. has produced its first integrated regional NRM plan and investment strategy, both of which conclude at the end of June 2008. These documents have helped identify and coordinate NRM action to address issues specific to Western Australia's South Coast Region. Our regional NRM funding from the NAP and the NHT is prioritised and directed by the South Coast Regional NRM Strategy and Investment Plan.

Supported by the regional community

The group benefits from strong community, industry and government support for activities organised under five major themes; Land, Water, Biodiversity, Cultural Heritage and Coastal & Marine. All NRM activity and funding in the South Coast Region is directed by Southern Prospects, our Regional Strategy for NRM.

We welcome you to our website and to the marvellous South Coast Region.

Our Vision

“To ensure a more prosperous future by safeguarding our unique natural and cultural environment through sustainable NRM.”

Our Mission

"To bring together people, organisations and information so that collectively, the Regional community achieves sustainable and positive social, environmental, cultural and economic outcomes."
