South Coast NRM works in partnership with community groups, industry, Australian, state and local governments, tertiary institutions and non-government organisations, to care for our natural assets.
Ongoing engagement by these parties is a key factor in the successful roll out of the region’s NRM investment.
PROJECT PARTNERS

Albany Hinterland
Albany Heritage Reference Group Aboriginal Corporation
Since its establishment in 2006, the group is now recognised as the leading Noongar heritage organisation in Albany. The group has several projects under its guidance and management including the Oyster Harbour Fish Traps, Albany Burials Project, Windermere-Yoorl Park, and Many Peaks Lake Pleasant View. The Oyster Harbour Fish Traps project is part of a larger vision for Noongar heritage by linking to the world heritage project, Kinjarling Walk Trail. The group works closely with South Coast NRM, Department of Indigenous Affairs, Great Southern Development Commission and the City of Albany.
Centre of Excellence in Natural Resource Management (CENRM)
CENRM undertake targeted, cost-effective and innovative research that makes a significant and recognised contribution to addressing Australia’s natural resource management problems.
City of Albany
Albany is the hub of a 40,000 square kilometre region known as the Great Southern, home to 52,000 people. Bounded by the Southern Ocean, the picturesque Stirling Range and the Great Southern hinterland, Albany embraces viability as a liveable, progressive centre. The City of Albany is responsible for the management of over 600 Crown reserves occupying more than 138,000 hectares. The Department of Environment and Conservation and other government agencies manage further reserves in the City of Albany and the Great Southern.
Greening Australia
With over 25 years experience in creating sustainable environmental outcomes, Greening Australia us a solutions-driven organisation that is committed to doing something practical about Australia's environmental problems. Greening Australia tackles critical issues like salinity, declining water quality, soil degredation, climate change and biodversity loss through an innovative blend of practical experience, science and community engagement.
Oyster Harbour Catchment Group Inc
Oyster Harbour Catchment Group (OHCG), formed in 1992, is a community-based group with a voluntary executive committee. The group currently has 130 landholders involved in conservation projects and a large number of community members engaged in activities such as weed removal
Shire of Plantagenet
The Shire of Plantagenet is located in the southern part of the Great Southern Region of Western Australia and is bordered by the Shires of Denmark, Manjimup, Cranbrook, Gnowangerup and the City of Albany.
South Coast Management Group
South Coast Management Group is a regional representative body of coastal planners, managers and community delegates along the South Coast of Western Australia. Their vision is to bring together people, organisations and information, so that communities in the South Coast Region are able to work in partnership, to improve the quality of the coastal and marine environment, resulting in environmental, social and economic sustainability.
South West Aboriginal Land and Sea Council
The South West Aboriginal Land and Sea Council (SWALSC) is a representative body of the Noongar people, the traditional owners of the South West of Australia. SWALSC works with its members to find resolution for native title claims as well as advancing the Noongar Culture, language and society.

Denmark Environment Centre
The Denmark Environment Centre was established in 1987, to positively promote conservation in south west Western Australia. The Centre has been an inspiration to many groups and individuals active in areas such as landcare, the old growth forest debate and forest management, protection and management of the conservation reserve system, coastal management and rehabilitation, road verge management and community development.
Denmark Centre for Sustainable Living
The Centre for Sustainable Living in Western Australia is an inspirational training, education and conference facility. The centre provides many demonstrations of sustainability in action, including the use of low toxic materials, sensitive landscape design, recycling, passive solar heating, onsite wastewater management systems and much more.
Denmark Weed Action Group
Caring for Denmark’s Bushland for over 20 years; Preparing Management Plans;Bush Regeneration work in urban reserves;Weed identification;Giving advice on weed control; Advising on re-vegetation; Establishment of accredited training; Working with volunteers.
Gillamii Centre Inc.
The Gillamii Centre aims to lead and inspire our agricultural community and the community at large to be involved with sustainable land use through training, education and knowledge. They encourage and lead in the efficient use of resources across the community while protecting and enhancing the natural environment.
Lake Muir/Denbarker Community Feral Pig Eradication Group
The Lake Muir / Denbarker Community Feral Pig Eradication Group aims to bring together landholders in the Lake Muir and Denbarker areas to assist in the reduction of the feral pig population and to continue to work together to keep Feral Pig numbers down.

Shire of Cranbrook

Shire of Denmark
The Shire has an area of 1843 sq kms extending 70 kms in an east-west direction and 30 kms north-south. A great deal is done today to conserve and protect the great forest trees and wilderness areas. The people of Denmark are very much aware of the need to care for our magnificent coastline and all its natural attractions.

The North Stirlings Pallinup Natural Resources (Inc.) comprises people who are committed to improving the sustainability of the region and its members.
Shire of Broomehill/Tambellup
The Shire of Broomehill-Tambellup is a progressive rural community located within the Great Southern Region of Western Australia. The region is predominantly a sheep and grain producing area with a growing interest in aquaculture, viticulture, horticulture and tourism. The Shire has a population of 1,184 people and covers around 2,813 square kilometres.
Shire of Kent
The Shire of Kent covers an area in excess of 6,500 square kilometres, and is predominantly an agricultural area. Some of the features you can see when visiting the Shire of Kent include many salt (pink) lakes, abundant wildlife, numerous nature reserves, Lake Bryde, historical Holland’s Track and parts of the historical ‘rabbit proof fence’.
Yongergnow Australian Malleefowl Centre
The Yongergnow Australian Malleefowl Centre is an innovative new venture that is completely community owned and will provide visitors with a unique experience. Here you will learn how the industrious people of Ongerup have adopted the threatened Malleefowl as an icon and are working towards saving its habitat and in turn, saving their town. You will see a breeding pair of Malleefowl in a large aviary and learn about the proposed captive breeding program.

Fitzgerald Biosphere Group (FBG)
The Fitzgerald Biosphere Group (FBG) is a non-profit community organisation that works with farmers, researchers, industry groups and federal and state agencies to address local production and natural resource management issues to ensure the long-term sustainability of the agricultural industry and the communities within the region.
Ravensthorpe Agricultural Initiative Network Inc (RAIN)
Aims to promote responsible natural resource management and best practice farming systems in the Ravensthorpe district.
Shire of Jerramungup
Shire of Jerramungup is the western gateway to the world famous Fitzgerald River National Park. The Shire comprises of 645,110 hectares and incorporates the towns of Jerramungup and Bremer Bay and the districts of Needilup, Jacup, Gairdner and Boxwood Hill.
The Fitzgerald River National Park is one of the largest national parks in Australia containing 20% of the States described plant species. The park covers an area of 329 039 ha and is one of the most diverse botanical regions in the world, featuring more than 1800 species of plants.
Wilson Inlet Catchment Committee (WICC)
WICC operates within the City of Albany, Shire of Plantagenet and Shire of Denmark, Western Australia. Their mission is catchment management and natural resource management - achieving results with farmers and landholders on-the-ground;deep rooted perennials, nutrient reduction, fencing and revegetation, and fertilizer workshops.

Esperance Sandplain
Esperance Regional Forum
Esperance Regional Forum Inc. (ERF) is our local community group providing a forum for natural resource management (NRM) in the Esperance region. ERF encourages the adoption of management practices that are both economically viable and environmentally sound.
Esperance Regional Forum Inc. is an authorised project of the Esperance Land Conservation District Committee (ELCDC) and is currently directly involved in on-ground activities such as fencing, perennial pasture seeding and biodiversity revegetation through the Lake Warden Strategic Catchment and Implementation of Stokes Management Plan Projects.
Shire of Esperance
The Shire has an area of 43,000 sq km. It extends from Munglinup to Israelite Bay and north to the Daniell rail siding. It includes over 400km of coastline, which ranges from gently undulating bays and picturesque islands of the Recherche Archipelago , to the spectacular cliffs of the Great Australian Bight.
