The Cultural Connections Crew is a team of highly-skilled Aboriginal people coordinated by South Coast NRM and Skill Hire Pty Ltd to provide labour and expertise to the public and private sectors in the areas of conservation and land management.
The Crew are experienced in providing the following services:
- Revegetation
- Fencing and landscaping
- Weed identification and control
- Tree planting and nursery (ie. bluegums and sandalwood)
- Tree lopping
- Tree pruning and stump grinding (domestic)
- Grounds maintenance (ie. schools, golf clubs and sporting grounds)
- Native seed collection
- Carbon plantings
Our Scope
The Cultural Connections Crew has worked on projects across the South Coast and Great Southern regions of Western Australia. The crew are highly mobile with fully equipped 4WD vehicles, GPS units, spraying kits and tools.

Clients of the Cultural Connections Crew include Main Roads, Western Power, Water Corporation, LandCorp, WA Department of Housing, WA Department of Environment and Conservation, WA Department of Agriculture and Food, Carbon Neutral, City of Albany, Shire of Cranbrook, Shire of Denmark, Shire of Plantagenet, Southern Agricultural Indigenous Landholder Service (SAILS), Coffey Environments, Oyster Harbour Catchment Group and the Albany Heritage Reference Group Aboriginal Corporation.
Education & Skills
All members of the Crew possess a Certificate II in Conservation and Land Management and are trained in chainsaw handling, chemical handling, weed identification and control, fencing, small tree felling, G.P.S navigation, Arc Pad GIS Asset Management, fire management and Phytophthora dieback hygiene.
