Carnaby's Black-Cockatoo lives only in the Southwest of Australia.  Through large scale clearing its population has decreased by 50% in the past 50 years.

With help from South Coast NRM, Birds Australia WA (BAWA)  has implemented  Carnaby's Black-Cockatoo recovery program.  On-ground works included identification and monitoring of breeding sites, and protection and management of breeding and feeding habitat through fencing, weed control, and revegetation.

The Carnaby's Black-Cockatoo Project has continued to promote conservation through presentations at community events, school visits and coordinating a community survey.  The project worked directly with land managers to repair hollows, fence of cockatoo habitat, and install breeding boxes.
