BACKGROUND
Since 2002, the Southern Incentives grant scheme has allowed South Coast NRM to partner with land managers, community groups, educational institutions, non-government agencies and not-for-profit groups to improve the condition and amenity of natural assets along the South Coast.
South Coast NRM developed the program in response to the south coast community's desire to increase the adoption of new ideas and practices with a focus on local priorities.
The aim of the scheme is to support biodiversity protection; restoration and revegetation through activities such as fencing to protect remnant vegetation, biodiversity revegetation plantings, perennial pasture plantings and the promotion of sustainable farm practices.
Funding was allocated under the broad themes of Biodiversity, Water, Soil Health, Perennials, Invasive Species, and Coastal and Marine; all aimed at achieving regionally important onground works.
