Invasive Species control projects focused on the following locations during 2009-10:
Moir Homestead, Telegraph Station and the Fisherman’s Hut Station Israelite Bay
Activities: Controlling Agaves (Century Plants), Castor Oil, Peppercorn Trees, Onion Weed and Dolichos Pea. These species are now starting to spread into the native bushland and any other disturbed areas.
Denmark River
Activities: implement control activities for Blackberry which is choking out native vegetation along the riparian zone and impacting on culturally significant sites, which reduces the biodiversity, impacts on the heath of the river and the significant sites.
Many Peaks Reserve
Activities: Addressing weed threats which are Acacia sp, Blackberry and Pinus sp. Which threaten the biodiversity of the reserve, adjacent cultural revegetation site, shire reserve and adjacent properties with weed dispersion.
Upper Kalgan River
Activities: Implement control activities for Blackberry, Acacia sp. Pampas Grass and Pinus sp. which are establishing in areas along the river were native species are being out competed or shaded out.
Hay River
Activities: Map the extent of weed infestations that could have future effects on the health of the system, the cultural sites and Wilson inlet.
Tingledale
Activities: Knotweed which is impeding on the natural aquatic systems cycles need to be controlled. This weed species effects the dairy and beef industry in this area that rely on those catchments for production and lively hoods
Esperance and Ravensthorpe Declared Species Groups
Activities: Control Wild dogs that impact on biodiversity and the sheep and wool industry. These control efforts wil help enhance biodiversity and the viability of sheep production in the area.
